Hillcrest Family
Services seeks volunteers to serve one of the many agency departments. Hillcrest
has opportunities for special event volunteers, students interested in learning
more about the human services field, and community volunteers who have a
sincere interest in working with others to achieve the agency's mission.
Listed below are some of the opportunities Hillcrest currently offers, a
brief description of the duties, and the time commitment necessary to volunteer
in that department.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dubuque (Dubuque, IA)
Duties:
Make a positive difference in the life of a child. Serve on various BBBS committees, participate in/organize Special Community Events, support efforts in the annual Bowl For Kids Sake or coordinate group activities for children waiting to be matched.
Commitment:
Varies with volunteer activity
Clinic Volunteer Clerk (Dubuque, IA)
Duties:
General clerical duties such as copying, collating, shredding, stocking educational materials, alphabetize information
Commitment:
1-2 hours per week
Holiday Lights Volunteer (Dubuque, IA)
Duties:
Help erect displays and place lights for holiday festivals; work evenings in park collecting admission fees and distributing brochures
Commitment:
Erecting displays - daytime hours
Collecting admissions - evenings (5:30 - 10 pm)
Birch House Volunteer (Iowa City, IA)
Duties:
Clerical duties, interaction and recreational activities with adult clients with mental illness, light maintenance/housekeeping
Commitment:
10-15 hours per week
WIC Volunteer (Dubuque and Clinton, IA)
Duties:
Weighing/measuring children, clerical duties, playing with children while parents meet with staff
Commitment:
As desired
Hillcrest requires
volunteers to successfully complete background checks and to document
they are free of communicable diseases prior to being accepted as a volunteer.
