Hillcrest Family Services Online Gift

International/Independent Adoption

Printer Friendly Version        Email Page

Hillcrest Family Services assists families interested in adopting internationally by collaborating with an agency capable of and responsible for the placement of the child(ren). (Hillcrest is not a child-placing agency for international adoption.)

When adopting internationally, adoptive families typically choose an agency not located in Iowa. Our role is to assist you with paperwork, complete the home study and conduct the follow-up visits required by the child-placing agency and country of your choice.

Agencies Used:

Hillcrest works with approved and accredited agencies. We collaborate with many reputable agencies and would be happy to discuss potential referral resources.

Home Study Process

The International home study process is similar to that for domestic adoptions. Additional requirements are placed on the process by the State of Iowa, the United States and the adopting country.

COA invites the public at large to provide comment on intercountry adoption service providers seeking Hague Accreditation, Hague Approval, or Renewal of Accreditation/Approval. Click here to see a list of current applicants along with their mailing address..

Instructions: Please click the adoption service provider's name to provide comments. If you provide your contact information, you may be contacted by COA if additional information is needed.
