ADULT RESIDENTIAL HOMES

Hillcrest Family Services owns and operates three adult homes (two in Dubuque and one in Iowa City). These homes operate as transitional residential rehabilitation programs for psychiatrically disabled adults. The homes are licensed and inspected by the Iowa Department of Inspections and appeals. Participants of Hillcrest's adult residential homes are involved in all aspects of programming and day-to-day operation of the house. Habilitation plans are established with the full input of each individual. Length of stay is determined by individual needs. The program encourages participants to develop attainable goals, with emphasis placed on skill building and environmental resource development. Programs are staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, by trained and caring staff.

Referrals are accepted from any professional or interested party. Cost of the program can be paid through a combination of state and county funds, as well as client participation in some form of Supplemental Social Security Income, Social Security Disability Income, State Supplementary Assistance or employment earnings. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and have a primary diagnosis of mental illness.
