| Title: | Tobacco Use Prevention Specialist (part-time) |
| Status: | Non-exempt |
| Purpose: | Perform duties that support the goals and objectives of The Dubuque County Tobacco Use Prevention & Control Community Partnership. |
| Qualifications: | Bachelor’s degree in a health related field or demonstrated experience in community assessment and health planning. |
| Reportability: | Direct supervision by Community Health Education Manager. |
| Scope: | This position has impact on community partners and persons involved in Anti-smoking activities and the prenatal clients and clients under age 24 seen by HFS. |
| Skills: | This position requires a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle. Flexibility in scheduling work hours and to be available between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. Ability to work cooperatively with diverse individuals, groups and organizations. Demonstrated appropriate verbal and written communication skills. Ability to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position with minimum supervision. |
| Relationships: | Ongoing communication between County and City community partners, WIC, MH and Clinic staff and Hillcrest Family Services employees. |
| Principle Responsibilities: | |
| 1. Coordinate activities with Dubuque County Tobacco Use Prevention & Control Coalition.
a. Orient self to current activities in the community and county. b. Make this information available to others in the community. c. Be available for communicating this information to the county. d. Meet with relevant agency representatives to determine needs and gaps in the county. e. Take Dubuque County Tobacco Use Prevention Coalition information to other counties at scheduled statewide meetings. 2. Assist in the formulation and implementation of Dubuque County Tobacco Use Prevention Coalition goals and objectives.
3. Monitor and track the implementation of action plans as identified by the Tobacco Use Prevention Coalition.
4. Manage public relations activities such as writing press releases and reports.
5. Develop and distribute to key constituents written communications regarding coalition plans and progress.
6. Negotiate new grant.

| Physical Requirements: | |
| This position requires bending and stooping and squatting occasionally. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. 15% of time spent standing, 15% of time spent walking and 70% of time spent sitting. Must have average hearing and visual acuity. Is required to use a phone and have average manual dexterity. Must be able to operate moving equipment and vehicles. May be exposed to common household cleaning chemicals and noise through the clinic.
