HILLCREST-MERCY MATERNAL HEALTH CENTER

Hillcrest Family Services, Mercy Health Center and Medical Associates Clinic P.C. together operate the Hillcrest-Mercy Maternal Health Center. The center provides comprehensive prenatal care to give babies a healthy start in life. The program is complemented by many free or low-cost community services in the area, including the Visiting Nurse Association, March of Dimes, Birthright, Red Cross, Genetic Consultation Service and adoption services. Clients are encouraged to use these services during and after pregnancy in order to obtain the best care available to them and their children. The Center is located at 102 Professional Arts Plaza, Mercy Drive, Dubuque Iowa 52001.

The professional staff at Hillcrest-Mercy Maternal Health Center offers the following services:

  • Prenatal care
  • Delivery of babies by Medical Associates obstetricians
  • Education about nutrition and the right kinds of foods to eat while pregnant (clients are also eligible for help through the Women, Infants and Children program)
  • Dental referral and assessments and Counseling
  • Education about how to prepare for labor, delivery and infant care
  • Referrals, if needed, to other health care or local community services
  • Postpartum care
  • Preparation for parenting and other counseling
  • Preparation for parenting

Women who do not come to the Professional Plaza site may be seen by our professional staff for enhanced services (except the actual medical prenatal care) at various locations in Dubuque, Delaware and Jones Counties. These services can be accessed through the Hillcrest/WIC program in each county. Appointments and information can be accessed by calling 563-557-4444, toll free 877-437-3942 or 877-437-2942.

The Delaware County Clinic is held at the United Methodist Church in Manchester on the first Monday of each month.

The Jones County clinic is held in Monticello on the first Tuesday of the month at the Berdes Center, 766 N. Maple and in Anamosa on the second Tuesday of the month at the Jones County Community Health Office, 105 Broadway.

In Dubuque, contact can also be made through the Finley Hospital Suite Beginnings program.

Women are eligible for the program if they live in Dubuque, Delaware, Jones, Clinton, Cedar, or Jackson county. The staff will assist clients in applying for medical assistance. Costs for the program are income based and, if eligible, clients are covered under Title 19 or Title 5 funding. Rules for acceptance and participation are the same for everyone without regard to race, color, national origin, age, handicap, creed or political affiliation.

Ways to Help:
   Donate baby clothes and toys (must be in good condition)
   Donate maternity clothes (must be in good condition)
