Since 1997, Hillcrest Family Services has made a difference in the lives of children and youth in our community through mentorship. Supported by a professional staff and advisory council, these one-to-one relationships have helped build friendships and provided emotional support to countless youth. Research shows that children with a mentor are more confident in their school work performance, less likely to skip school, less likely to begin using illegal drugs and alcohol, and get along better with their families.
Community-based program: Adults (18 and older) and children (5-15) meet at the locations of their choice to share activities they enjoy together (fishing, playing board games, going to movies, hiking, or playing catch). We ask for a one year commitment and a minimum of four hours a month. Mentor Dubuque partners with businesses, colleges, and organizations to offer activities and opportunities to meet other matches.
