Supervised Apartment Living

The Supervised Apartment Living Program provides young adults between the ages of 16 and 18 with guidance and the opportunity to develop their independent living skills while living in the community. Clients seek and obtain a rental apartment with assistance from staff. All clients are required to attend school and maintain employment (part-time or full-time) throughout their placement.

Clients considered for the program must demonstrate the ability to make good decisions and act in a mature manner. Although the program is available for males and females between the ages of 16 and 18, some clients will be eligible to stay in the program after 18 years of age, depending upon their status in school and commitment to the program.

The major focus of the program is to develop and strengthen independent living skills in order for clients to maintain a productive life in the community. Training for independent living will include the following elements:
  • Food and nutrition
  • Laundry skills
  • Job skills & finding a job
  • Community resources
  • Finding an apartment
  • Communication skills
  • Legal issues
  • Apartment care and handyman tools
  • Banking and budgeting
  • Medical care
  • Time management and goal setting
  • Relationships
  • Listening skills
  • Parenting skills (if applicable)

Remedial Services

This is a program that offers skill building activities and strengths based strategy approaches to provide children, adolescents, and adults with the skills needed to lead healthy lives.
