What is Bowl For Kids' Sake?

Bowl For Kids' Sake is the largest annual fund raising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Iowa, a program of Hillcrest Family Services. This fund raising event is in the form of a bowl-a-thon where participants secure pledges and then come to the event to enjoy a HUGE bowling party!

Join us by either being a sponsor or working as a Team Captain to gather a team to collect pledges and gather for a fun day of festivity and bowling.

Our goal this year is to raise $50,000 to benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Every dollar raised from this event stays right here in our community and is used to make, as well as maintain, matches between "Bigs" and "Littles."

About Big Brothers Big Sisters:

Current assistance allows Big Brothers and Big Sisters to serve 183 school-based and community matches…but we still have 38 young people waiting to be matched. Support of Big Brothers and Big Sisters sends a message to the children in our community that they are important to our future.

It takes approximately $1000 to make and maintain one match for one year.

211 children were served in 2008!

Children matched in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Iowa program are likely to:

Have a more positive attitude toward school (67%)
Develop higher levels of self-confidence (82%)
Have improved school performance (82%)
Avoid delinquency (100%)
Have improved relationships with adults, family and peers (82%)
Not begin using illegal drugs and alcohol (95%)

Children need someone to count on…someone, who through the gift of time can shape children’s lives constructively. When a match is made between a child and a mentor, not only does the child feel and see a positive difference, so does the Dubuque Community.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Iowa has served more than 1,180 children in Dubuque, Jackson, and Clayton counties.

Bowl For Kids’ Sake is our major fundraiser and supports our mentoring relationships each year!
